Lance Willix Victorious In DIRTcar 358-Modified Feature Sunday At Glen Ridge Motorsports Park

Story By: TOBY LAGRANGE / GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK – FULTONVILLE, NY – Lance Willix came into the 2024 racing season looking to do what everyone who pulls through the gates on Mary’s Lane has hopes of doing – winning. For Willix he is after not only the feature win but the allusive Calanan Industries DIRTcar 358 Modified title, which he came up just short on one season ago.

On Sunday night the Theresa, New York veteran added to his number one ranked feature winners total at The Ridge by parking his ride in victory lane. Willix’s popular feature win came over Brian Pessolano, Andrew Buff, Joey Bonetti and Jordan McCreadie. The heat races were won by Willix and Pessolano.

Derrick McGrew, Jr. claimed the 30-lap Ted’s Body Shop/Next Generation Graphix DIRTcar Sportsman feature event. McGrew served as the “super sub” for the night as he was the substitute driver for Zach Buff. Taylor Wason finished second with Tyler Bobar third, Tavien Blowers fourth and Kadon Hohensheldt fifth. Heat races were won by Wason and Stephen Gray.

Defending Yurkewecz Auto Crushers DIRTcar Pro Stock and overall DIRTcar Northeast Pro Stock champion Luke Horning picked up his first feature event win of the season in the nights 20 lap event. Horning was followed across the line by Shawn Perez, Jr., Slater Baker, Tyler Bushey and Steve Cosselman. Heat races were won by Perez and Chuck McSpirit.

Josh Coonradt made it back-to-back feature wins in the Limited Sportsman division. The former DIRTcar Pro Stock division ace took the checkered flag over rookie Mason Gray, opening night winner Nick Brundige, Adam Fusco and Kirsten Swartz. Heat races were won by Gray and defending track champion Conner Hearn.

Billy Hillman made his first Leatherstocking Credit Union DIRTcar Mini Stock division start of the 2024 season at The Ridge count the best way possible by picking up the feature event win. Hillman’s win came over Jason Peck, Ken Hollenbeck (first single cam), Jordan Ryder and Kerrie Hollenbeck.

Other feature winners during the night were Josh Samrov (Street Stock), A.J. Albreada (Northeast Paving & Sealcoat All-Star Slingshots and E.J. Hatch (Northeast Paving & Sealcoat Junior Slingshots.

The Glen Ridge Motorsports Park is back in action this Sunday, June 2nd with one of the biggest shows of the 2024 season. The DIRTcar 358 Modified Series will kick off their season at The Ridge with the 2nd Annual Mohawk Valley Showdown 50. All the cars and stars of the DIRTcar Northeast 358 Modified division will be invading The Ridge on Sunday. All other weekly divisions will be in action. Racing is set to start at 6pm.
