Story By: KENNY SHUPP / OUTLAW SPEEDWAY – DUNDEE, NY – The calendar just flipped to May 2024 and with that one of the biggest nights in the history of the Outlaw Speedway will happen on Thursday Night the 16th as the Kubota High Limit 410 Sprint Car Series will make its first ever appearance at the popular Yates County oval.
“Over the past sixty-seven years this place has been in existence we have seen some pretty big events that have been staged at this place. Big and Small Block Modified Touring Groups including DIRTcar and STSS, World of Outlaw Late Models as well as ULMS and RUSH. Several 360 Sprint Series like ESS, PST, URC and USAC Non-Winged Sprints and most recently the CRSA 305 Sprint Organization. The Empire Street Stocks, SCDRA Front Wheel Drives; You name the group, they have been here. After I purchased this facility nine years ago, I booked the All-Star Circuit of Champions 410 Sprint Series, and they made several successful return engagements all of which were extremely popular, but nothing compares to all the per-event hype surrounding the upcoming Kubota High Limit 410 Sprint Car Touring Series. This WILL be the biggest event in the history of Outlaw Speedway, period!” That according to track owner, Tyler Siri.
Working closely with series owners, Kyle Larson and Brad Sweet, Siri is pulling out all the stops in what promises to be the highest attended event at the Dundee, NY
“We are ready for this event! The grounds are dry and firm including pit and grandstand parking lots. I have a new and enthusiastic group of employees in both pit and grandstand concessions. The all-new 2024 Infield Fan Experience is ready to roll all equipped with food, beverage, restrooms and it offers a unique ground level view of the Fast 4/10 of a Mile oval. The racing surface has never been better, fast smooth and wide and I have one of best officiating crews in racing. It does not get any better than this and everything is in place for a highly prolific event of this magnitude.”
Many of the top 410 Sprint Car teams in the country have Dundee, NY already punched into their GPS devices for May 16, 2024, Thursday Night Thunder. Full time High Limit drivers that have committed to the entire 2024 schedule including Zeb Wise and Sunshine Tyler Courtney who both won All Star 410 Shows at Outlaw in 2023 will be there as well as 2022 Outlaw Speedway All Star 410 Sprint winner, The Myerstown Missile, Brent Marks. Fan favorite, Rico Abru is committed along with the one of the hottest 410 Sprint Car drivers this spring, Cory Day. Then of course you have the four-time World of Outlaw Sprint Champ and High Limit Series co-owner, Big Cat Brad Sweet and it does not stop there as a slew of the top Pennsylvania Posse drivers will make the four-hour haul north including the likes of Danny Dietrich and Anthony Macri just to name a few. Macri has never seen Outlaw before, but Dietrich has without question the most consistency of any 410 driver to ever tackle the popular Yates County Facility always finding the top five with many podiums and a runner-up to Marks in 2022. Better known as Double D, Danny Dietrich is the early favorite to claim the $12,000 winner’s check simply because of his solid history at the facility in prior 410 Sprint competition.
Of the extensive list of Upstate New York and Canadian competitors, who have a chance at their first ever High Limit 410 Sprint Car feature victory you need to consider Danny Varin who has a long resume of 360 Sprint wins to his credit along with No Panic, Davie Franek of Wantage, NJ. Both are no strangers to Outlaw Speedway with neither being counted out of this one simply because of their home track knowledge.
However, the one name that jumps out the most is Bradford, Pa speedster, ‘The Juice’ Jared Zimbardi who like Franek has multiple wins at Outlaw in a Winged Sprint.
Should Zimbardi show up with his A Game he will make noise!
Likewise, Jordan Porier of Quebec who was the 2022 and 2023 Empire Super Sprint Champion now has access to a 410 power -plant and could turn heads and it is a sure bet that if Colagiovanni Racing of Syracuse arrives with hired gun, Mark Smith they could pull off the upset of the year. The equipment and funding are there, and Smith has everything it takes including many laps and wins at Outlaw Speedway in a 360.
In addition to the Kubota High Limit 410 Sprint Car Series racing for the winner’s check of $12,000 and $1,200 to start, the Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Modifieds will also see action in the $4,000 to win event which awards each driver 30 Show up points.
With Outlaw being the only track running on Thursday Night Thunder, May 16 every Modified driver in the northeast will take a serious look at this event which will be live on Flo Racing, creating even more exposure.
You can bet that drivers like Matt Sheppard, Michael Maresca and Alex Payne will be there in hopes of taking away the bragging rights and the cash from Outlaw regulars such as 2023 Modified Champ, Cory Costa, Brady Fultz, The Hurricane Steve Paine and his two sons, Billy and Tommy.
Track owner, Bossman, Tyler Siri will field no less than three very stout Modifieds for himself, Bobby Varin along with newly acquired pilot Ajay Slideways, Alan Johnson.
Herrington Motorsports of Woodhull will field cars for Stacy Jackson and Jake Dgien. Ron Cartwright Jr. will be on hand along with Jim LaRock, Tommy Collins Jr., The Doctor Danny Johnson, Will Shields and Jeff Daugherty.
This has all the makings of a star-studded Modified field!
Camping is always free at Outlaw Speedway and encouraged!
A pair of iced cold beer watering holes are open each race night with the Turn 4 Tavern located in the grandstand seating area. On the pit side, the Outlaw Speedway Saloon not only offers a full selection of beer, but the top deck observation tower provides breathtaking, unobstructed viewing of the Fast 4/10 of Mile Oval.
Celebrating sixty-seven consecutive years of great dirt track racing action, the Outlaw Speedway is located right in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York on Rt. 14a in Dundee, NY.
Included will be pit and grandstand entry times, admission prices and more including hot lap and opening green flag times.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early and for those entering the pit area you will be treated to an unequaled opportunity to get up close with the greatest 410 Sprint Car Drivers on the planet. These drivers are very approachable for autographs, photos and selfies. You will not want to miss this unique opportunity. Many teams bring along their own apparel rigs which will be in an easy access area for both grandstand and pit attendees to view and purchase swag of their favorite drivers.
It is anticipated that some 85 plus teams or even more (Sprint and Modified) will converge on Outlaw for this inaugural event which is guaranteed to send shock waves across Northeast dirt track racing.
