Column By: NICK GRAZIANO / WORLD OF OUTLAWS – HARTFORD, OH – For the third straight year, the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Models will run multiple races at Ohio’s Sharon Speedway during a mid-summer doubleheader.
The two-day event, Friday-Saturday, July 12-13, will see the best Late Model drivers in the country contend for a $10,000 payday on Friday and then a $15,000 check on Saturday.
Last year, Chris Madden and Ryan Gustin split victories at the track during the three-day event – two for Madden and one for Gustin. Madden’s two victories were his first at the track, while Gustin’s win was his second.
Gustin has been strong at Sharon the past three years, nearly beating Kyle Larson in 2021 and then coming back in 2022 to win at the track in May. With his Series win there last year, he’ll try to win at the 3/8-mile track for a third consecutive year.
Madden, who will retire from full-time racing at the end of the year, is currently the only driver with a Series win in Ohio this year. He dominated at Raceway 7, leading all 40 laps.
Sharon has hosted the World of Outlaws 14 times. Its first World of Outlaws race was in 2004 during the Series’ revival year – won by Davey Johnson.
