Story By: MIKE WARREN / DIRTCAR – FULTONVILLE, NY – After a successful season opener at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series prepares for another Capital Region battle this weekend.
The Series makes its first of two visits this season to Glen Ridge Motorsports Park on Sunday, June 9, for a 30-lap Feature paying $1,000 to win.
Here’s a look at what to watch for this weekend:
2 Hot to Handle: Brandon Emigh opened the 2024 DIRTcar Pro Stock Series with his first career Series win, becoming the 100th different Series winner. He also has momentum entering the weekend after earning his fourth Albany-Saratoga victory on May 31.
Emigh has a win and four top-five finishes in seven DIRTcar Pro Stock Series starts behind the wheel of his No. 2E car. However, Sunday will be his first Series start outside of Albany-Saratoga.
Luke’s Redemption: Luke Horning was on his way to a top-five finish at Albany-Saratoga before contact with Devon Camenga ended his night.
Luckily, round two of the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series is at Glen Ridge, where he won the track championship in 2023. “Cousin Luke” also won the Series event at the track in 2023 and currently leads the track’s standings by 10 points over Slater Baker, who found Victory Lane at Glen Ridge last Sunday.
A win by the Gloversville, NY driver on Sunday will be his seventh Series victory.
Searching For a Win: While Emigh struck first in DIRTcar Pro Stock Series competition this year, Jason Casey and Kim Duell are still searching for their first Series triumph.
Casey has nine top fives and 19 top 10s in 39 Series starts, matching his best Series finish at Albany-Saratoga after finishing second.
Duell, who finished third at “The Great Race Place,” is currently the points leader at Albany-Saratoga and hopes that success translates to Glen Ridge – a track he’s never raced at with the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series.
The Porters Corners, NY driver has five top-five finishes and eight top 10s in 21 Series starts.
Long Road to the Ridge: While many of the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series stars live around New York’s Capital Region, two drivers from outside that area are ready to battle for a win on Sunday.
Pete Stefanski, of North Tonawanda, NY, who has more wins than any other driver in Series history (27), finished seventh in the Series opener after starting 21st.
He finished third in last year’s event at Glen Ridge and has finished in the top 10 in seven straight races dating back to Super DIRT Week in 2022.
Bruno Cyr is another driver with a long haul to Glen Ridge. The Saint-Georges, QC driver finished sixth at Albany-Saratoga and plans to make his first Series start at Glen Ridge this weekend.
Cyr has one DIRTcar Pro Stock Series win at Autodrome Granby in 2018.
