Short Track Super Series’ Slate Valley 50 At Devil’s Bowl Speedway Goes Green June 16th

Story By: CHRIS MOORE / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – WEST HAVEN, VT – A Father’s Day Special. For the third consecutive year, the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco celebrates Father’s Day at Vermont’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway.
Mike Bruno’s facility hosts the $10,000-to-win ‘Slate Valley 50’ for the STSS big-block/small-block Modifieds.
The event takes the place of Round No. 7 of the Ollie’s Overall Championship and Round No. 3 of the River Valley Builders North Region.
Saint Catherines, Ontario, Canada’s Mat Williamson holds a 53-point advantage over Savannah, N.Y.’s Matt Sheppard for the overall championship.
Williamson meanwhile sits second in the North Region Championship chase, five markers behind Sprakers, N.Y.’s Stewart Friesen.
Friesen is the defending winner of the ‘Slate Valley 50,’ having claimed the $10,000 prize in ’23.
Friesen topped J.R. Hurlburt Steve Bernier, who both had their best career STSS finishes in the ’23 ‘Slate Valley 50.’
Matt Sheppard won the ’22 ‘Slate Valley 50,’ a non-stop affair that saw Sheppard lead all 50 laps. Mat Williamson was the runner-up and Demetrios Drellos rounded out the podium.
Joining the STSS Modifieds – under Devil’s Bowl Speedway rules and procedures – are the Sportsman, Limited Sportsman, and Mini Stocks.
Pit parking begins at 1 p.m. Pit gates officially open at 3 p.m., grandstand gates unlock at 4 p.m., with hot laps at 5 p.m. and racing to follow at 6 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $30. Kids 12 and under are FREE.
Infield access is $35 and Kids 12 and under are FREE.
Pit admission is $45.
