Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / JW MOTORSPORTS – VINCENTOWN, NJ – Although forced to miss Lincoln Speedway’s initial launch on Thursday, February 23, due to work commitments, Justin Whittall and JW Motorsports finally got their 2023 season activated with another round of Lincoln Speedway Icebreaker competition on Sunday, February 27.
Despite being far from a frequent Lincoln flier, the New Jersey-based open wheelers persevered, ultimately climbing their way from 17th on the grid to check off a ninth-place result.
Whittall was sixth in his respective heat race; an automatic qualifying position for the $6,000-to-win feature program.
“Feels good to be back in the car. We were hoping to get a few starts in this weekend, but we’ll take this top ten and move forward,” Whittall, driver of the JG Kronenberger Fine Jewelry, Mid-Atlantic Transport, Pioneer Auto Body, Worldwide Bearings, Enterprise, Prime Composite Innovations, K Seal, No. 67 sprint car, said. “Lincoln is not an easy place to race, but we had fun. We had some positive momentum on our side from last year and our goal is to keep this going.”
Incidentally, Whittall’s season-opening finish matches his outcome from the 2022 Icebreaker.
