Story By: TOBY LAGRANGE / GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK – FULTONVILLE, NY – When second generation driver Jordan McCreadie made it known that he was going to call the Red Chair DIRTcar 358 Modified division at the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park home in 2023, he instantly became one of the names listed as a favorite to not only end up in victory lane regularly but to bring home the track title.
After an early season full of strong runs McCreadie finally reached victory lane Sunday night and in the process picked up his first career win at the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park.
McCreadie got to the lead early and pulled away from the field. The Watertown, New York driver lapped through fifth place before the first caution flag waved late in the event. This allowed second and third place runners Tucker O’Connor and Lance Willix one last chance at McCreadie.
On the restart McCreadie was able to pull away with Willix taking over the second position. After arriving late to the track and missing his heat race, Willix started last on the field and ended up crossing under the checkered flag in the runner-up position ahead of O’Connor, rookie Carter Gibbons and Bill August.
Willix came up light on the scales following the race and was disqualified. This moved another division rookie, Chris Bisson into the top five. Heat races were won by McCreadie and O’Connor.
After picking up his third track championship one season ago, Andrew Buff came into the nights action winless for the season at The Ridge. That all changed as the Latham, New York driver took advantage of his starting position and quickly grabbed the race lead. With the exception of a brief challenge by his younger brother Zach Buff, Andrew was not challenged and picked up the win. Zach Buff finished second with Ricky Quick third, Derrick McGrew, Jr., fourth and Brendan Gibbons fifth. Heat races were won by Zach Buff and Gibbons.
A pair of Yurkewecz Auto Crushers DIRTcar Pro Stock feature events were on the schedule for the evening. The first would see Josh Coonradt pick up the win over Johnny Rivers, Slater Baker, Luke Horning and Shawn Perez, Jr. The second was the held over event from May 7th and was won by Steve Cosselman over Kyle Weiler, Coonradt, Baker and Doug Sheely. Rivers won the heat race.
Other winners during the night included Michael Arnold (Limited Sportsman), Matt Mosher (Street Stocks), Jay Ingersoll and Daniel Joubert (Leatherstocking Credit Union DIRTcar Mini Stocks) and Bodie Marks (Northeast Paving & Sealcoat Junior Slingshots). The Junior Slingshot event was the annual Future Fortunes 15 event.
A.J. Albreada crossed the finish line first in the Northeast Paving & Sealcoat All-Star Slingshot feature event however the results are unofficial pending the results of the technical inspection (engine). The results will be released in a separate release once official.
