
Story By: TOBY LAGRANGE / GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK – FULTONVILLE, NY – The Glen Ridge Motorsports Park roared back in action Sunday night after a month of cancellations due to Mother Nature. It was a jammed packed night of racing action at The Ridge which brought with it a large crowd and a record car count for one of the weekly divisions.
Current Red Chair DIRTcar 358 Modified points leader Jordan McCreadie is starting to look right at home behind the wheel of a DIRTcar 358 Modified at The Ridge. The second-generation driver from Watertown, New York picked up his third feature win in a row Sunday night and in the process strengthened his grasp on the points lead.
Johnstown’s Brian Calabrese finished second with Bill August third, C.J. Castelletti fourth and Carter Gibbons fifth.
The Classic Muscle Parts DIRTcar Sportsman division would see a familiar face back in victory lane. Current points leader Andrew Buff brought home the win in the Hall of Fame Classic event. The win was the Latham, New York driver’s 19th career win at the track, which places him third on the all-time divisional feature winners list.
Brendan Gibbons finished a strong second with Ricky Quick third, Cody Ochs fourth and Tony Farone fifth.
The Yurkewecz Auto Crushers DIRTcar Pro Stock division ran a special program Sunday night. On tap was the inaugural Robert “Fluff” Hagen Memorial for the division. The event was presented by Classic Muscle Parts. The 30-lap event paid $2,500 to win plus bonuses.
A record total of 35 drivers entered the event which is the highest car count for the division at The Ridge in its 20-year history.
When all was said and done Brasher Falls, New York invader Ian Bressett brought home the win in front of the large crowd. Bleecker, New Yorks Steve Cosselman finished a strong second, which made him the highest finishing track regular. Sid Harmer, Jr., Shane Playford and Pete Stefanski rounded out the top five.
The Leatherstocking Credit Union DIRTcar Mini Stock division also competed in a special event. The 2nd Annual Daryl Hillman Memorial was on the card and drew a solid field of 32 drivers. The field was split into two separate feature events – one for the Single Cam and one for the Dual Cam divisions.
When the checkered flag waved Billy Hillman won the Dual Cam event, which is run in memory of his late father. Cory Valade finished second with Dan Valade third, Slappy White fourth and Cameron Kenny fifth. The Single Cam event was won by Kyle Lanfear, Jr. over Daniel Joubert, Jamie Warner, John Ray and John North.
Other winners during the night included Kirsten Swartz (Limited Sportsman), Jason Samrov (Street Stocks), Dave Vial (Northeast Paving & Sealcoat All-Star Slingshots) and Bodie Marks (Northeast Paving & Sealcoat Junior Slingshots).
The Glen Ridge Motorsports Park is back in action this Sunday night, July 30th with all weekly divisions in action. It will be Kids Night with all kids seven years of age and younger admitted free to the grandstands. The pit gates open at 3pm, front gates at 4pm with hot laps at 5:30 pm and racing at 6pm.
