Column By: MIKE TRAVERSE / RPW – MIDDLETOWN, NY – News has surfaced that former racer and noted car Lou Inzeo has passed away.
Starting out as a driver, Lou later became a noted car owner as his cars competed at the various tracks, OCFS, East Windsor, Flemington and Nazareth.
Lou had some good talent in his cars through the years.
Drivers who wheeled Lou’s #80 included Bob Pickell and Nokie Mallory. Mallory won two features at OCFS driving the Gremlin version of the 80.
In 2014, Lou was inducted into the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club (GSVSCC) for his contributions as a car owner, a nice tribute for him.
In recent years, Lou was a frequent attendee at the OCFS Nostalgia Night festivities. When former racer and Lou’s friend, Jerry Wildrick, made a tribute car of the beautiful Inzeo coach bodied #80, it added even more enjoyment for Lou at the Nostalgia Night Event.
There were lots of nice comments on social media once the word of Lou’s passing started to circulate. Many people commented on what a wonderful and nice man he was.
On a personal note, when I first brought Matthew, my special needs son, to Nostalgia Night, Lou took a special liking to him. For many years, he would bring him a gift as he traveled north to Nostalgia Night from his cattle farm in Virginia.
Lou also participated with donations to some of the early editions of the Marky Traverse Memorial Race. He was a special friend to our family.
Race Pro Weekly sends it’s condolences to Lou’s daughter, Nicole Rose, his grandson, Adam Rose and to all of Lou’s family and friends.
R.I.P. #80. You will be missed. Thank you for the memories and for the kindness you showed.
