Story By: RYAN DELPH / SPRING NATIONALS SERIES – BRASSTOWN, NC – The Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by Coltman Farms Racing and fueled by Sunoco dips south to Alabama over the April 5-6 weekend for a pair of big events.
The miniseries will visit Buckshot Speedway in Clanton, Alabama this Friday night, as a $7,553 payday will be on the line for the ground-pounding Super Late Models.
On Saturday evening, the action quickly shifts to the historic East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama for the $10,053 to win Jimmy Thomas Memorial.
The #SpringNationals tour has completed three shows so far in 2024 with each producing a different winner. Ethan Dotson, of Bakersfield, California, reached victory lane in the series lid lifter back on February 29 at Waycross Motor Speedway to pocket a $7,553 top prize. In last weekend’s double-dip in the Volunteer State, Evans, Georgia native Brandon Overton emerged victorious on a last lap pass at I-75 Raceway to bag the $10,053 winner’s check, while Dale McDowell, of Chickamauga, Georgia, secured the $21,000 first place prize money in the annual Lil’ Bill Corum Memorial at Tazewell Speedway.
At Buckshot on Friday, both the pit gates and the grandstands will open at 3:00pm. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:00pm with Hot Laps slated for 6:30pm. Along with Super Late Models, 604 Late Models ($700 to win), 602 Late Models ($600 to win), Open Wheels ($500 to win), Factory Stocks ($400 to win), Buzz 4’s ($400 to win), and Buzz 6’s ($350 to win) are also on the racing card for April 5.
Adult grandstand admission will be $20.00, while kids ages 9 and under will be allowed into the stands for FREE. Pit admission will be $40.00 for adults, $20.00 for kids ages 6-12, and FREE to those children ages 5 and under. The Spring Nationals has visited Buckshot Speedway on one previous occasion in 2023 when Joseph Joiner bested Dillon Tidmore, Ross Bailes, Haiden Cowan, and Kenny Collins. The track is located at 1034 County Road 76 in Clanton, Alabama 35045.
At EAMS on Saturday, the pit gates will swing open at 2:00pm and the grandstands will start to allow patrons into the venue starting at 5:00pm. The Drivers Meeting will get underway at 6:30pm, while Hot Laps will take to the racetrack at 7:00pm. The Super Late Models will headline the Jimmy Thomas Memorial program, but the 604 Late Models, 602 Late Models, 602 Chargers, Hobby, Road Warriors, Crown Vics, and Hot Shots will also be in action on April 6.
Adults will be admitted into the grandstands for $20.00, while kids ages 10 and under will be allowed into the stands for FREE. For those wanting pit access, a pit pass for adults will be $35.00 and only $15.00 for kids ages 10 and under. Those serving in our Military will receive $5.00 off admission into both the stands and the pits, while those bringing an ATV or a Side-by-Side can buy a pass for their vehicle for $10.00.
Brandon Overton has won both previous series visits to East Alabama Motor Speedway, as he beat Ashton Winger, Carson Ferguson, Sam Seawright, and Dalton Cook in 2023 and bested Ashton Winger, Michael Page, Garrett Smith, and Carson Ferguson back in 2022. The track is located at 4238 US Highway 80 West in Phenix City, Alabama 36870.
The Spring Nationals tire rule in 2024 is Hoosier Racing Tire NLMT 2, 3, 4 and American Racer Tire 44, 48, Pro3/56, Pro4. Body rules and the Droop Rule will be the same as those agreed on by both the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series – among others. The entry fee will be $100.00 each night and transponders will be available to rent. Any driver not advancing into the feature field will receive $75.00 in tow money.
