Story By: JOHN SNYDER / ORANGE COUNTY FAIR SPEEDWAY – MIDDLETOWN, NY – To date, more than 60 former and current veteran drivers have indicated they’ll be on hand Sunday, June 9 when Escape Powersports Plus presents Doug Dulgarian’s 18th Annual Nostalgia Night and the first racing program of The Big Series at historic Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York.

Set to return are nine former Modified division titlists, whose combined racing record on the big five-eighths-mile clay track includes 34 point championships.

“No sooner did the word get out that we were keeping the Nostalgia Night tradition alive, then drivers began calling that they were looking forward to the date,” said organizer and co-promoter Doug Dulgarian, himself a former Small-Block Modified division driver. “Drivers from every division—Big-Block Modified, Small-Block Modified, Sportsman, and the various fullfender Late Model and Street Stock classes will be on hand, and we expect the list of attendees to grow as we get closer to June 9.”

Adding to Nostalgia Night’s traditional autograph sessions, several historic race cars will be on display.

Activities surrounding Doug Dulgarian’s 18th Annual Nostalgia Night will open the June 9 program. Spectator and pit gates will open at 2:00 pm. Nostalgia Night driver autographs will take place between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Race cars will be on the track beginning approximately 5:00 pm.

The Big Series inaugural race meet includes Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stock divisions. Current era Big-Block and Small-Block Modified drivers will compete together under DIRTcar sanctioning—with the Small-Block entries receiving an equalizing weight break—in a series of qualifying races to set the 24-car field for the 30-lap feature race.

DIRTcar rules will be in effect and drivers can apply DIRTcar home track status if appropriate. Sportsman and Street Stock divisions will race under the auspices of 2023 OCFS rules. Qualifying races will determine the 24-car starting field for the 20-lap Sportsman feature.

A 15-lap Street Stock feature race is planned, with qualifying heats added depending on the number of entries. Following qualifying, the Modified feature will be held first.

Adult General Admission for June 9 all Stands or Drive-In is $20, Seniors 62+ $15, Children 12 and under $2. Party Deck $30 per person. All Pit Passes $35.
