Chris Raabe Scores First Airborne Park Speedway Victory Of 2024 Thursday Evening

Story By: AIRBORNE PARK SPEEDWAY – PLATTSBURGH, NY – Alexandria, Ontario’s Chris Raabe won the second Be Cool Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Feature of the season on Thursday, May 16th, after securing the lead from Justin Stone on lap 16.
Stone and Jeremy Roy led the field to green, with Raabe in the second row with Matt Woodruff. The race’s initial start was marred by a multi-car incident that ended the nights of George Foley, Tanner Siemons, Patrick Dupree, DJ Gonyo and Dany Gagne, but it was smooth sailing from there. Raabe was largely unchallenged through the second half of the race and pulled away on the only other restart of the event when an infield tire was forced onto the racing surface on lap 22.
Mike Mahaney finished 2nd with Justin Stone 3rd. Tim Fuller finished 4th with Jeremy Roy rounding out the top-five.
In the J&S Steel Sportsman, Donovan Lussier took advantage of his front- row starting position to handily cover the 30+ car field for the second time in as many weeks. Joey Scarborough, Travis Bruno, Michael Wright and Nick Heywood engaged in spirited battles throughout the race for the rest of the top-five positions, finishing in that order.
Nate Guay won the 9th State Cannabis Renegade feature. Opening night’s 2nd place finisher charged from 7th starting position to take the lead around the one-third mark of the race, holding off Shawn Duquette on a late restart to bring home the win in the extra-distance affair which paid $500 to win. Duquette was 2nd with Tyler Irwin 3rd. Richie Turner overcame a litany of incidents to finish 4th and Zack Daniels was 5th.
In Moore Recycling Mini Stock competition, Steven Bresette won the 15-lap A-main. Rick Doner charged from 12th to 2nd, with opening night’s B-main winer Josh Blake 3rd. Speedy Bresette and Josh Laporte, Jr. rounded out the top-five. The B-main was won by Chuck Mooney, making his first-career appearance in Egglefield Ford Victory Lane. Mooney started 4th and amassed a large advantage early. Jeb Beeson started 9th and finished 2nd with Kyle Botala 3rd, Kyle Hart 4th and Cory Collins 5th. Forty cars entered competition, with 21 going to the A-main and 19 to the B.
