Story By: KENNY SHUPP / OUTLAW SPEEDWAY – DUNDEE, NY – The Outlaw Speedway will open the month of July with a BIG BANG as track owner/promoter, Tyler Siri will present the Annual Fireworks Extravaganza at the popular Yates County facility on Friday, July 5, 2024
Since purchasing the facility nine years ago, Siri and his staff have proudly presented what may consider the largest and well-orchestrated fireworks programs in the Finger Lakes Region of NY.
“Traditionally we spend a lot of money and time putting this program together, stated Siri. People come from great distances to see our races and fireworks and the show we have prepared for this year may be our best yet.”
This year Siri has pledged no less than $20,000 in Fireworks, making his program the largest in the area. With families enjoying the July 4 weekend it is anticipated that lake traffic and local campsites will be buzzing with vacationers. Consequently, the timing of July 4 on a Thursday makes this weekend exceptionally aggressive with travelers coming from all parts to enjoy the long holiday weekend.
On the Fast 4/10 clay oval it will be a Regular Show featuring the Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Mighty Modifieds. Also seeing action will be the Crate Sportsman Division presented by Sunrise Insulation and Knapp and Schlappi Lumber. The classy looking Swarthout Recycling Street Stocks will also be on the card along with the Winner’s Circle Deli Mini Stocks featuring a mix of both front and rear wheel drive creations. Rounding out the Super 5 event will be the Hobby Stocks sponsored by the participating NAPA Stores including Addison, Corning, Hornell and Wellsville locations.
The first green flag waves at 7:30 pm.
Free camping is offered at the facility each race event and with the larger than normal crowd expected for the Fireworks Show fans are encouraged to come early as quality parking and camping spots will be at a premium.
A pair of watering holes await thirsty race fans.
The Turn 4 Tavern is located on the grandstand side of the facility with the Outlaw Saloon in the pit area and both offer a wide selection of ice-cold beer.
“We are celebrating the 67th season of Outlaw Speedway and I am going to make this year’s Fireworks Extravaganza one that everyone will be talking about for years to come”. That once again according to Siri.
The Outlaw Speedway is located in Dundee, NY on Rt. 14a right in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York. Just a short drive from Penn Yan, Seneca Falls, Geneva, Watkins Glen, Corning/Elmira, Bath and Hammondsport.
