Column By: MIKE TRAVERSE / RPW – ACCORD, NY – Andy Bachetti is suddenly on a roll at Accord Speedway.
After some previous tough weeks, Bachetti scored his 2nd consecutive win at The Bullring on Friday. It was win #3 on the season for Andy.
Bachetti started 8th and quickly moved up to 2nd. After a caution with 6 laps completed, Bachetti took the lead from Joe Judge. Although he put some distance between himself and Judge at first, Joe was running strong and pressured Andy during the middle stages of the race.
“The car faded some during the middle laps,” Bachetti said. “I knew that Judge was close.”
But as the race continued, Bachetti was able to open up the lead some and he finished .7 seconds ahead of Judge. Ken Ferrier had a solid race and finished 3rd with Justin Holland 4th and Danny Tyler 5th. Rounding out the top 10 were Tyler Johnston 6th, Shane Jablonka 7th, Shane Jablonka 8th, Rich Eurich 9th and Scott Ferrier 10th.
Connor Prokop picked up his first ever Accord Speedway feature win in the Sportsman.
After Joey Conklin and Kyle Smith were the early leaders, it was Prokop to the lead and he withstood several restarts to take the victory. Whitey Slavin had his best finish of the season in 2nd. Jared LaBagh was 3rd, Jackie Brown Jr. 4th and Smith 5th.
Finishing 6th in the Sportsman was Ryan Behrent with Greg McClosky 7th, Mike Travis 8th, Jeff Higham 9th and Kevin Stevens 10th.
In a recent RPW column, it was mentioned that Walt Henry was still looking for his first win of the season. The column that Walt could break out with a win in any race. It didn’t take long as Henry raced to victory in the Pure Stock race on Friday.
Henry held off several persistent challenges of Billy Deak Jr. to win by less than a half second. Jayden Sleight was 3rd, Shawn Williams 4th and Aiden Demorest 5th.
