Story By: SANDY BATE / FLEMINGTON SPEEDWAY HISTORICAL SOCIETY – EAST AMWELL TWP, NJ – Flemington Speedway Historical Society’s (FSHS) 12th annual Car Show presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings, Inc. is Saturday, October 19th from 9:00am to 3:00pm, at the Roger K. Everitt Fairgrounds (South County Park), 1207 Route 179, just outside of Ringoes.
The Flemington Speedway Historical Society’s annual event has grown into Hunterdon County’s largest car show, and event organizers have high expectations for another successful show in 2024. The rain date is Sunday, October 20th with the same event details.
FSHS willl be collecting donations at the event to “Fill A Truck” with supplies and items to support the victims of Hurricane Helene. Donations can be dropped off at the designated trailer for participants during the car show event. An extended donation drop off time for the community will be held from 3:00pm – 5:00pm at the Roger K. Everitt Fairgrounds on October 19th. The trailer filled with supplies and items will be heading to N.C. around Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Prior to the car show event, donations can be dropped off at the Flemington Department Store during regular store hours.
All types and years of vehicles are welcome from cars, trucks, motorcycles, race cars, tractors, boats, and even monster trucks! Registration is $15.00 per show vehicle on the day of the event. Trophies will be awarded to 1st place winners in numerous classes, plus special Memorial and Flemington Speedway awards. In addition, Flemington Department Store will be presenting 24 Sponsor’s Choice awards throughout the event. Spectator admission is $5.00 per adult, while spectator parking is free. Children under 16 years of age are admitted free with an adult.
The accompanying part swap meet, craft, and flea market vendors will be set up inside the pole barns. No pre-registration is required. The gates will open at 7:00am for vendors and show vehicles.
The Grange building, which is the site of the Flemington Speedway Historical Society display and drive-thru awards presentation, will once again be the registration and information center. The awards parade and presentation ceremony begins at 2:00p.m. Doctor D Entertainment of Clinton, NJ, will be announcing and playing your favorite car show tunes, as well as hosting trivia with prizes throughout the car show event. A variety of festival food will be offered throughout the day.
The event’s title sponsor, Pioneer Pole Buildings, Inc., has a long-standing relationship with former Flemington Speedway drivers, and the Flemington Speedway Historical Society is excited to establish this relationship!
Corvettes are the featured car this year, and they will be on display in and around the Grange building. FSHS also welcomes back to the annual event the Antique Automobile Club of America, as well as the Central Jersey Volkswagen Society. Members of their respective clubs will have their vehicles at the event for display. Several Corvette clubs are expected to partcipate as well!
Flemington Speedway Historical Society Inc. is a public charity 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, whose mission is to preserve, protect, and document the history of the Flemington Fairgrounds and Speedway, which closed in 2000. Prior to its closing, the Flemington Speedway was America’s longest-running Saturday night short-track, and was known for being the fastest 5/8 mile dirt track in the United States.
The annual car show is produced by Flemington Speedway Historical Society in cooperation with the Hunterdon County 4-H and Agricultural Fair. Proceeds benefit both parties.
