Column By: ROBERT SYMONDS / RPW – ROSSBURG, OH – Mad Max McLaughlin has been to the Eldora Speedway in a Big Block Modified and also competed in the NASCAR Truck Series event but has never raced at the famed Ohio dirt oval in a Late Model.
“It will be a challenge for sure,” McLaughlin mentioned heading into Wednesday night’s Castrol FloRacing Night In America Series event. “Eldora is a big momentum track and its a big get up & go track. You gotta be really good on the cushion here.”
In his rookie year, behind the wheel of the GR Smith owned 22* Late Model, McLaughlin is currently third in Rookie of the Year points for the Case Construction World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Mad Max had already celebrated his first win with the Outlaws at the Talladega Short Track in his 5th career start but he is looking to beat the best at a track that most consider tough to tame.
“Right now we are good on the short tracks but when it comes to the bigger tracks, we have more to learn. Tonight we’re looking to try a couple small things. If they’re good then great, if not then we will go back and try something else. First thing is to get into the show .”
Watch Mad Max in the Mohawk Northeast 22 tonight on FloRacing for the Castrol FloRacing Night in America Series starting at around 6pm EST.
