Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / CJB MOTORSPORTS – CARLISLE, PA – Despite what proved to be a hectic two days at Volusia Speedway Park in DeLeon Springs, Florida, participating in three A-Mains in two days which included the DIRTcar Nationals make-up feature from early February, CJB Motorsports and Spencer Bayston put it all together, eventually concluding their Florida campaign with back-to-back top-ten scores, the best being a fifth-place result in the Spring Showdown finale on Monday, March 6.
Bayston, who is currently ninth in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship chase, started eighth on the A-Main lineup before powering ahead to his top-five, forced to tango early with fellow championship contender, Logan Schuchart, then sneaking by reigning Series champion, Brad Sweet, with five remaining.
In addition, the CJB Motorsports hotshoe and Lebanon, Indiana, native finished sixth in the DIRTcar Nationals make-up feature on Sunday, March 5, all after finishing 12th in the Spring Showdown opener the same evening.
Despite being unable to attain a top-ten outcome during the Series’ season-opening Volusia visits in early February, the recent trek was a dose of redemption, working to use their newly activated momentum during the coming trip to Pennsylvania.
“I am really pleased with our Florida effort. We battled through a bit of an issue on night one, but we were able to persevere for two great finishes and I’m super proud of that,” Bayston, driver of the TrueTimber Camo, Rothco, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, Highlands’ Power Sports, High Performance Lubricants, No. 5 sprint car, said. “Any time you can battle for a top-five against this level of talent and competition, it’s a success story. Building consistency and finding comfort within our team has always been our priority and we’re excited to take all of this momentum back to Pennsylvania with us.”
Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a visit to Pennsylvania Posse Country, rejoining the Greatest Show On Dirt in a Port Royal Speedway doubleheader on Friday and Saturday, March 10-11. Bayston and CJB Motorsports are prior World of Outlaws Port Royal winners.
