RPW Exclusive: The New Orange County Fair Speedway Book Sells Out It’s First Press Run

Column By: MIKE TRAVERSE / RPW – MIDDLETOWN, NY – OCFS Historian, Doug Dulgarian, wasn’t sure how well his new OCFS history book was going to do on it’s release on Sunday.

Since Doug was financing this project on his own, he didn’t do a huge press run on the book. The amount that he had printed still amounted to a significant investment.

But his fears of how well his book was going to do were allayed on Sunday as within an hour, the first press run of his excellent piece of work were sold out.

It was fortunate that it was a pretty nice spring day in Middletown as the crowd, waiting to get into the OCFS Conference Room, stretched out the door and spilled into the parking lot.

“The turnout today is unbelievable,” Dulgarian said. “Way more than I anticipated..”

Many legendary racers from the glorious history of OCFS were on hand to sign Doug’s book.

“Doug has put a lot of work into this,” said Brett Hearn, OCFS’s all time leading winner. “This was years and years of work. I remember him doing this in between other things in the office here. So it’s pretty cool to see it all come together.”

“This is really cool, I didn’t expect to see this many people to come out,” said Rich Eurich. “It’s a good thing.”
“He picks up right where the other book left off”, said Tighe Scott. “So many good stories that needed to be told. We’re losing so many tracks that it’s great to see an effort by Doug to put together this great book.”

Others besides Dulgarian, Hearn, Eurich and Scott that were signing books Sunday were Russ Meyer, Anthony Ferraiuolo, Hank Goranson Jr., Bill Wilson and John Tucker.
