Story By: KASEY KREIDER / LINDA’S SPEEDWAY – JONESTOWN, PA – An action-packed seven-division show of racing Friday night at the Linda’s Speedway was highlighted by several past champions making trips into the winner’s circle after taking some hard-fought checkered flags.
In the Mt. Gretna Roller Rink 270 Micro Sprint division, last year’s track champion Brandon Heist continued his excellent start to 2024 by picking up the win in the second 270 race of the year at Linda’s. Heist quickly bolted to the lead from the outside pole and held onto the spot for the rest of the race to claim the victory.
Former track champion Jason Swavely made his return to Linda’s a successful one as he parked his No. 14 in victory lane following a late-race battle with Cody West. Swavely tried to pass West on the low side, but was denied. On the next restart with just a few laps to go, Swavely blasted past on the high line and set sail toward victory.
Two-time 600 Modified champion Kenny Harris took advantage of a strong restart around halfway to get past Tiffany Hitzler and take the checkers of Friday’s 20-lap A-Main.
The Front Wheel Drives made their 2024 season debut on Friday night as well, and it was veteran Shane Flaherty who picked up the win, triumphing in the season-opening race for the second year in a row.
Returning to action for the second-straight week were the PA Micro Midgets. While Chris Ott picked up his second win in as many weeks in the 300 class, it was Todd Walls who was victorious this time in the ultra-competitive 500 division, as the two-time defending class champion kept the pack at bay throughout the 20-lap feature event.
The Junior Sprints also made their return to the track, and it was once again Jase Smith who parked the No. 52 in victory lane, this time leading wire-to-wire to do so.
Linda’s Speedway returns to action next Friday night with the Mt. Gretna Roller Rink 270 Micro Sprints, Stolz Stove Sales Winged 600 Micro Sprints, and Junior Sprints all back in town. Joining them on the docket will be the Chargers, J&J Auto Body Junior Slingshots, and the first appearance of the season for the Midgets.
