Memorial Day Weekend Triple Shot To Decide Tight Spring Nationals Point Battle

Story By: RYAN DELPH / SPRING NATIONALS SERIES – BRASSTOWN, NC – Following a flurry of rain-outs over the past month, the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by Coltman Farms Racing and fueled by Sunoco gears up for the final points weekend of the 2024 season.

A tight point battle will be decided in a trio of events in the states of Georgia and Tennessee from May 24-26. Pearson Lee Williams, of Dublin, Georgia, finds himself atop the current standings by only two markers over fellow Georgian Donald McIntosh, while Christian Hanger, of Winchester, Tennessee, sits in the third position in the latest point tally.

On Friday night, May 24 in the inaugural series visit to Sugar Creek Raceway, which will shell out a $7,553 first place prize, the pit gates will swing open at 3:00pm and the grandstands will open at 5:00pm. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:30pm and Hot Laps will take to the racetrack at 7:00pm. Joining the Super Late Models on the racing card in Blue Ridge, Georgia will be 604 Late Models, 602 Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Front Wheel Drives.

Adults will be admitted into the grandstands for $25.00 and into the pit area for $45.00. Kids ages 11-15 will be allowed into the stands and into the pits for only $20.00. The dirt-slinging action will then quickly shift to North Georgia Speedway on Saturday evening, May 25 for the $10,053 to win ‘Biddle Ridley Memorial.’ Dale McDowell is the defending race winner at the Chatsworth, Georgia oval, as he picked up the checkered flag last year over a top five that included runner-up Ross Bailes, Carson Ferguson, Benji Hicks, and Sam Seawright. Joining the Super Late Models will be the 604 Late Models, 602 Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Beginner, and Front Wheel Drives.

Adult admission will be $25.00 into the grandstands and $45.00 into the pit area. Children ages 5-11 will be admitted into the stands for $15.00 and into the pits for $20.00. Kids ages 4 and under will be allowed onto the grounds for FREE. The pit gates will open at 3:00pm, the grandstands will open at 3:30pm, the Drivers Meeting is set for 6:30pm, and Hot Laps are slated for 7:00pm. A Champion will then be crowned and the triple shot of Memorial Day weekend competition will conclude with another $10,053 winner’s check on Sunday, May 26 at Duck River Raceway Park. Previous Spring Nationals winners at the Wheel, Tennessee venue include: Tim McCreadie (’13), Dale McDowell (’14), Josh Putnam (’22), and Dale McDowell (’23). The single-day extravaganza will include ten divisions in action including the Super Late Model, 602 Late Model, Dwarf, Pure Pony, Factory Stock, Front Wheel Drive, Mod Lite, Mini Cup, Open Wheel Modified, and Rookie 602 classes.

The pits will open at DRRP at 1:00pm, the stands will open at 3:00pm, the Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 5:00pm, and Hot Laps will get underway at 5:30pm. Adult admission will be $30.00 into the grandstands and $45.00 into the pit area. Kids ages 6-12 will be admitted into the stands for $20.00 and into the pits for $25.00. The Spring Nationals has seen only six events escape the wrath of Mother Nature this year, but six different drivers have etched their name into series lore. Ethan Dotson (Waycross Motor Speedway), Brandon Overton (I-75 Raceway), Dale McDowell (Tazewell Speedway), Ashton Winger (Buckshot Speedway), Kyle Bronson (East Alabama Motor Speedway), and Camaron Marlar (Lake Cumberland Speedway) have all celebrated in Schaeffer’s Oil Victory Lane so far in 2024.

The Spring Nationals tire rule in 2024 is Hoosier Racing Tire NLMT 2, 3, 4 and American Racer Tire 44, 48, Pro3/56, Pro4. Body rules and the Droop Rule are the same as those agreed on by both the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series – among others. The entry fee for each of the three races will be $100.00 and transponders will be available to rent. Any driver not advancing into the feature field will receive $75.00 in tow money.
