Story By: LINCOLN SPEEDWAY – ABBOTTSTOWN, PA – This Saturday, September 3, Lincoln Speedway is back in action with Elijah Hawkins Memorial featuring the Gene Latta Ford 410 Sprint Cars racing for $7,000 to win with the PA Speedweek format plus the H & N Landscaping 358 Sprint Cars and Central PA Legends.
Racing starts at 7:30PM with pit gates open at 5PM and grandstands open at 5:30PM. Adult general admission is $25, Students are $10 and a Pit Pass is $35.
Elijah, who is being honored on Saturday, was just 8 years old when he passed away on July 4, 2021 as a result of injuries sustained in a house fire. Elijah was a huge sports fan participating in baseball and bowling and enjoying time with his family at the races.
The Hawkins family put together a sheet metal and memorabilia auction to support the race with items that include a Brian Montieth trophy, Anthony Macri wing panel, Lance Dewease trophy, Freddie Rahmer wing panel, Justin Peck gloves and much more. The silent auction will conclude at 8PM on Saturday night on the stage located at the end of the grandstands in turn 4.
Defending track champion, Freddie Rahmer sits at the top of the 2022 410 sprint point standings with 5370 points. Chase Dietz is in second with 4170 points and Dylan Norris is third with 4040 points.
Steve Owings is currently the points leader in the 358 sprint standings with 3260 points. After back-to-back wins, rookie contender, Cameron Smith sits in second place with 2730 points. Kody Hartlaub, with 2690 points, is third.
