Story By: TOBY LAGRANGE / GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK – FULTONVILLE, NY – Our sport is full of great people. As the years go on some of those great people stand out among the crowd in a number of ways.
They can be drivers, team owners, promoters, officials, media members, crew members or any other position inside the gates. They each have two things in common – their dedication and love for our sport.
On Sunday June 25th, the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park has the honor of hosting an event in honor of one of those great people.
Robert “Fluff” Hagen was one of those people and he, along will be honored in a grand way come late June with the running of an event in his name.
The Yurkewecz Auto Crushers DIRTcar Pro Stock division will take part in the Robert “Fluff” Hagen Memorial and thanks to the hard work of Jay Fitzgerald (Classic Muscle Parts) and family, the event will pay one of the biggest purses in the track’s 20 year history.
“Robert “Fluff” Hagen and his Wife Christine have been a staple in the local dirt racing world for years” Fitzgerald said. “He was a longtime crew member of Kenny Tremont. Jr., then the late J.C. Flach and Keith Flach. He worked at Elmo’s Speed & Supply and everyone knew Fluff. He loved racing like no one I’ve ever met.”
At the moment the winner of the event will take home $2,500 with second place earning $1,000 and the final finisher bringing home $200. There will also be lap money and give-a-ways that will make the final payouts potentially higher.
The race will also be part of the Pro Stock Battle For The Crown, which is a three race mini-series at The Ridge that also includes the Silver Fox Showdown on May 21st and the Ridge Runner 30 DIRTcar Pro Stock Serie event on August 27th.The
