Story By: KASEY KREIDER / LINDA’S SPEEDWAY – JONESTOWN, PA – As the all-time winningest driver in the history of the 270cc Micro Sprint National Open at the Linda’s Speedway, Ross Perchak knows his way around the quarter-mile as well as anyone.
Despite a nine-month absence from racing at the Jonestown oval, Saturday’s 30-lap A-Main proved to be just like riding a bike for the six-time National Open champion, as Perchak crushed the field to grab the marquee victory on the second night of Richie Hartman Promotions’ 4th of July Weekend Show at the Linda’s Speedway.
Perchak swooped to the lead from the outside pole position and never looked back in a Mt. Gretna Roller Rink 270 A-Main that featured yellow flags only sparingly. The Hazleton native built up multiple leads of well over two seconds and pulled away from Dan Boyer and the rest of the pack on a late restart to seal the victory.
The Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Wingless 600 Micro Sprints also competed, and featured a first-time Linda’s Speedway winner, as Dillsburg’s Mason Beinhower danced his No. 21 Hyper Chassis on the cushion throughout the 25-lap A-Main and made smart and decisive moves in lapped traffic to claim his first triumph in Jonestown.
The PA Micro Midgets made their return to Linda’s as well after debuting on last year’s 4th of July weekend. Todd Walls claimed victory in the 500 division, while Clark Simonton took the final win of the night in the 300 division as the sun set on both the evening and the two-day racing weekend.
Linda’s Speedway returns to action Friday, July 7th with a four-division show on Kids and Autograph Night at the racetrack. The Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Wingless 600 Micro Sprints will have their final tune-up for Speedweek with a time-trial event. They’ll be joined by the Mt. Gretna Roller Rink 270 Micro Sprints, the Mike’s Towing and Recovery 600 Modifieds, and the Bernheisel Race Components Chargers.
