Story By: KASEY KREIDER / LINDA’S SPEEDWAY – JONESTOWN, PA – Against a stacked field of Winged 600 Micro Sprints at the Linda’s Speedway, it would take the drive of a champion to charge from 11th in order to claim the win of a 30-lap A-Main.
Former Linda’s Speedway champion Jason Swavely was up to the task, as the Fleetwood native got to the front around the halfway mark and never looked back en route to claiming the $1,500 payday associated with the big triumph.
Swavely made big moves on the start to carve his way from 11th to fourth by the end of the first lap. Swavely picked his way up to early leader Ben Stolz with the aid of some early yellows, and made the pass for the lead around the halfway mark. From there, Swavely held off a late charge from Tyler Henry in lapped traffic to seal the deal on his victory.
Brayden Spencer continued his scorching hot start to the season with another victory in the Mt. Gretna Roller Rink 270 Micro Sprint division. Spencer fended off a mid-race challenge from veteran Brian Heist and wired the field to score his third win of the year at the speedway and extend his points lead in the process.
A bold and opportunistic move from Hoffer Paving All Star Slingshot veteran Cody Kline opened the door for the Bangor native to score his first win in over five years at the speedway. Kline used a lapped car as a pick against early leaders Mason Pittenger and Dave Carraghan and shot from third to first to make what would turn out to be the race-winning pass.
A first-time winner graced the quarter-mile in the 125 Micro Sprint division, as Seth Gregory won an early race, side-by-side battle with Chris Dolan to grab control of the 20-lap A-Main and never looked back en route to his first-ever micro sprint win.
The PA Wings Outlaw Kart division made its return to the speedway for the second year as part of the Richie Hartman Promotions show, and once again, it was Ryan Sheaffer who scored the victory, as he led the entire night to win in the division for the second-straight year.
Linda’s Speedway returns to action for Night No. 2 of the Richie Hartman Promotions show on Saturday, July 1st, with on-track action beginning at 6:00. The Mt. Gretna Roller Rink 270 Micro Sprints will compete for $1,000 to win, with the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Wingless 600 Micro Sprints racing for $600 if there is at least a full field. Joining them will be the return of the PA Wings Outlaw Karts, as well as the Young Guns Jr. Sprints and both the 300cc and 500cc divisions of the PA Micro Midgets.
