Story By: KASEY KREIDER / LINDA’S SPEEDWAY – JONESTOWN, PA – Long-time Linda’s Speedway race fans are used to seeing a Boyer in victory lane after a 270 Micro Sprint feature event.

Prior to Friday night, it had always been Mike Boyer, a three-time champion and one of the all-time winningest 270 drivers at the track. But this time, it was Mike’s older brother, Dan, who finally captured his first victory at the Jonestown quarter-mile.

A long-time micro sprint competitor who made his return to racing a few years ago, the native of Elizabethtown piloted his No. 6 to a wire-to-wire win on Friday night. Boyer survived lapped traffic and then a late restart to keep Brandon Heist and Ben Stolz at bay. Boyer’s victory made him the second-straight first-time winner in 270 competition, following up Jason Paisley’s win from two weeks prior.

Heist followed up his win at the Kutztown Fair Nationals with a runner-up result. That coupled with an early retirement from Brayden Spencer erased the 23-point deficit that faced Heist entering the evening and put the two drivers level at the top of the standings entering next Friday’s event.

The other micro sprint race on the evening belonged to Richie Hartman, as the current Wingless 600 points leader bolted the wings on Mark Gray’s No. 39 and gave his car owner a belated birthday present with a win in the Stolz Stove Sales Winged 600 event. Hartman lost the lead on the initial start to Brian Kramer, but got a second chance when the yellows waved before the first lap was completed. Hartman took advantage of the do-over and never lost the lead again en route to the win.

The Bernheisel Race Components Chargers turned in another exciting A-Main, as Ronnie Buck held off both of the Hollenbach brothers to score his second win of the season. The emotional win for Buck also gave him the points lead entering the Chargers’ next race on September 1st.

Tyler Bartik continued his winning ways at Linda’s by picking up his third win of the season in the Mike’s Towing & Recovery 600 Modifieds. Bartik pounced on early leader Josh Bewley on a restart and took away an advantage that he would not relinquish. Bartik’s win moved him to second in the points behind Richie Hitzler. And after Friday night’s event, the top six in the standings are separated by a mere nine points.

Linda’s Speedway returns to action on August 25th with a five-division show of racing. The Mt. Gretna Roller Rink 270 Micro Sprints and Mike’s Towing & Recovery 600 Modifieds return to the track. Joining them will be the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Wingless 600 Micro Sprints and the Hoffer Paving All Star Slingshots. And the Appalachian Auto Front Wheel Drive division will run their penultimate race of the 2023 season next Friday night as well.
