Story By: KASEY KREIDER / LINDA’S SPEEDWAY – JONESTOWN, PA – Friday night was a special one at the Jonestown quarter-mile, as the track came together to honor the memory of two long-time members of the racing family and supporters of the Linda’s Speedway in LeRoy and Betty Felty.
LeRoy and Betty’s great-grandson, Karter Adams, is in the midst of his second full-time season racing All Star Slingshots at the Linda’s Speedway. Adams gave the crowd something to cheer about early on in the evening, as he dominated to grab a victory in the first heat race of the night.
But when feature time rolled around, a familiar face returned to Selinsgrove Ford Victory Lane. Tyler Ulsh took the lead of the 20-lap A-Main following a brief battle with Chase Schott and completed his drive from sixth to his third win of the season in the Hoffer Paving All Star Slingshot division. On behalf of the Felty family, Ulsh was presented in victory lane with one of LeRoy’s former trophies, and posed in the winner’s circle alongside Adams, who wrapped up his night with a sixth-place finish in the feature.
The always impressive Mt. Gretna Roller Rink 270 Micro Sprint division saw another dramatic finish and another first-time winner at the speedway. On a time trial night at the track, Hazleton’s Jason Paisley set quick time, won his heat race, and held on for his first feature win at the track by the skin of his teeth. Paisley survived a late restart and staved off Sean Stolz to grab the win by 0.022 seconds at the finish line.
After picking up his first-career win last month, Austin Webster continued his hot streak through the summer months in the Bernheisel Race Components Charger division. Webster was never contested through the course of the 15-lap A-Main and steered his No. 27 to his second win of the year, keeping him squarely in the championship fight.
The PA Micro Midgets made their return to Linda’s for the fourth event of their five-race Speedweek series. Justin Care picked up his second win of the week in the 500 division, while Noah Michalski dominated the 300 division A-Main to claim his second triumph of the Speedweek, which concludes Saturday at Hunterstown Speedway.
Linda’s Speedway returns to action with one of the biggest events of the year on Thursday, August 10th. The Xtreme Outlaw Midgets Series presented by Toyota makes its third stop of Appalachian Midget Week at the quarter-mile, as national midget racing returns to the track for the first time since 2019. The Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Wingless 600 Micro Sprints and the J&J Auto Body Junior Slingshots will join the midgets on the card for what promises to be an epic night of competition.
