Story By: STEVEN PETTY / HUMBERSTONE SPEEDWAY – PORT COLBORNE, ONT – Chad Homan from Macedon, NY was victorious in the Northeast Late Model Alliance feature Sunday night, winning the All-Canadian event at Humberstone Speedway.
Mr. DIRT titlist Cody McPherson from St. Catharines, Ontario is now the all-time winningest driver in the history of the Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series and clinched the Western Region title Sunday night after winning the All-Canadian Championships presented by Stirling Lubricants at the Humberstone Speedway.
Donny Lampman from Caistor Centre, Ontario won the GR Enviro Rail Thunder Stock main event. Spencer Riddell from Caledonia, Ontario was declared the winner of the Bosch Car Service Mini Stocks. Tyler Winger from Ridgeway, Ontario won the Tender Cut Meats Mod Lite main event. Stan Zanchin from Ft Erie, Ontario won the Vintage Car feature event. 130 cars took part in the All-Canadian Championship.
Noah Mamo and Matteo Panunte brought the Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman to the green flag for their Western Region event, with Mamo showing the way early on. Adam Leslie would take second on lap two and would go after Mamo for the lead. Leslie would take the lead on lap seven, and one lap later, Cody McPherson would take over third place. McPherson would reel in Mamo for second place, and on lap 14, would take over the runner-up position. Cody McPherson would take the lead away from Leslie on lap 24, with Brett Senek passing Matteo Panunte to take over third place. McPherson would hold off Leslie and Senek to claim his 20th career Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series triumph, breaking a tie with Brad Rouse.
David Pangrazio and Stan Zanchin were on the front row for the Vanderlaan Building Products Northeast Late Model Alliance feature event, with Pangrazio leading Chad Homan. Charlie Sandercock brought out the caution on lap six. The restart would see Homan take the lead away from Pangrazio. Zanchin and Steve Baldwin battled for several laps for third place, as did Brandon Mowat and Kyle Sopaz for sixth place. Zanchin would hold off all the challenges from Baldwin for third, as Homan and Pangrazio would pull away from the field. Homan would go on to win his third All-Canadian Championship over Pangrazio, with Zanchin, Baldwin, and Rob Ledingham completing the top five.
Jim and Donny Lampman brought the GR Enviro Rail Thunder Stocks to the green flag, with Donny showing the way. A caution-filled opening seven circuits saw Donny Lampman lead Tyler French, Steve Shaw, Pete Reid, and Kyle Pelrine. The caution would come out on lap 14 as Steve Shaw spun in turn three, while running in third place. Donny Lampman would lead all 20-laps to win the main event.
Tyler Winger and Sean Iftody were on the front row for the Tender Cut Meats Mod Lites feature event, with Winger in the lead. Brent Begolo worked his way through the field and by lap eight, would challenge RJ Pietz and Jamie Gilbert for the fifth position. Nick Sarantakos hit the front stretch wall and second place running Sean Iftody had nowhere to go, contacted Sarantakos, and rolled several times on the front straightaway. Both drivers were okay and climbed out of their racecars. Winger and Josh Sliter would lead the field back to the green flag, with Sliter taking the lead on lap 13. Winger would regain the lead and would hold off Sliter by .005 to bring home the win.
Clinton Barrick and Spencer Riddell were on the front row for the Bosch Car Service Mini Stocks, with Barrick showing the way. Alex Riley would take over third place and would go after Riddell for second. Riley would pass Riddell for second on lap seven. The caution would come out for a Connor Chambers spin in turn two, that collected Riley and Mason Anderson. Riley was able to continue racing but would pull off a couple of laps later. The restart would see Barrick in the lead, and Barrick would hold off Riddell to score the feature win. Barrick would fail post-race tech, handing the victory to Riddell.
Stan Zanchin would lead the opening laps of the Vintage Cars ahead of Bill Profota and Doug Gordon. Zanchin dominated the event, leading all 15 circuits to pick up the victory. Bill Profota would finish in second and Doug Gordon would complete the top three finish.
Humberstone Speedway will return to action on Sunday, August 25 for the Pete Cosco Memorial, featuring the 358 Modifieds, Thunder Stocks, Mini Stocks, Mod Lites, Vintage Cars, and the Race of Champions Sportsman Series. Time and admission pricing will be released in the coming weeks.
